MEATY QUESTIONS:

What made you decide to seek out wardrobe therapy/personal shopping/styling services?:
I have a good sense of how to put clothes and colors together but have a problem of always wearing the same things with little variation in pattern and style. I like wearing colors but fall into the habit of wearing lots of t-shirts with pants and cardigans to layer for warmth. My look felt stuck in the late 90’s. I teach so I needed a conservative update that was still fashion forward. I decided to seek wardrobe therapy from Cindy in order to help refresh my style while still keeping a fashion sense that I felt comfortable with.

What’s the most surprising thing you learned from the wardrobe therapy/personal shopping/styling experience?:
I tend to be a layer fanatic due to cold Boston weather and poor circulation. Cindy provided suggestions for layering some summer looks and patterns to create a new look for the fall and winter season. This was something I NEVER thought to do before. After talking with Cindy about proper layering I feel more comfortable with my layer options and will shy away from using the same boring cardigans to keep warm on cold Boston days.

I also learned some easy ways to update my style by adding in pattern and different types of fabric. Before my session, I believe that I may have had a pattern and fabric phobia. Cindy pointed out that many of my “everyday outfits” were solid colors mixed with black. She also noticed that most of the clothing was cotton with little variation in texture and fabric choice. I hadn’t even noticed that I only had two tops in my closet that had any kind of pattern to them. With just a little suggestion and consulting, Cindy squashed my fear of pattern and helped me see that easy color palette combinations and addition of accessories can help to add style to any outfit.

How useful did you find the consultation? Or what’s the most useful piece of advice you learned from the consultation?:
My favorite part of the consultation was finding out that I had lots of options if I simply looked at my wardrobe from a different perspective. Cindy asked me to put together some new outfits from the clothes I had in my closet which compelled me to put new recommendations to immediate use (and…it was fun).

Cindy’s quick followup with internet links for suggestions on new wardrobe additions encouraged me to put my new style into action. I bought a few accessories and patterns and I already feel like I have doubled my wardrobe! I LOVE that I could change my look by just taking a different viewpoint.
